I was his first section commander in the battalion. Jim had an uncanny habit of getting injured (notice the plaster cast) but was even better at patching himself up. I decided that he should become the section medic, hence the nickname Doc, as I remember it, back in 1975. On Mt Longdon we were unable to save him though, I revisited the spot in 2012 and said my farewells by his plaque in Memorial Wood, Port Stanley. Sorely missed. Tom Herring Ex B Coy, 3 PARA.
