Peter Timson Evans, son of John and Lilian Evans and husband of Rosa Evans, of Huntingdon, enlisted into the Life Guards.
After volunteering for airborne forces, Private Evans successfully completed selection at Hardwick Hall and later qualified as a military parachutist on course 78 which ran at RAF Ringway in August 1943.
Pte Evans was posted to The 12th (Yorkshire) Parachute Battalion and went on Operation Overlord in Normandy.
He was Killed in Action aged 23 on 22 August 1944 and is now buried at Ranville War Cemetery.
