James McAllan Falconer, son of James and Catherine Falconer, of Aberdeen, enlisted into The Royal Scots Regiment.
Private Falconer volunteered for airborne forces in January 1944 and attended Parachute Training course 102 at RAF Ringway between 7 and 18 February 1944. The course report states; ‘Hard worker, confident, good performer.’
He was initially posted to the Holding Battalion before being posted to C Company The 8th (Midland) Parachute Battalion (8th Para Bn).
Pte Falconer jumped into Normandy on D Day (6 June 1944). He was Killed in Action on 18 June 1944, aged 21 years old. After immediately given a field burial he was reinterned on 25 July 1945 at Ranville War Cemetery, Normandy.
