Philip Howard Bradford was my older brother. He was born on the 15th of December 1944. He was three years older than me, always clipping me round the ear but very protective. We both liked motor cycles which sadly caused tragic lose of life. He joined the army and went straight into the Para, along with his mate Tony Mapp. He was born to be a Para. Went out to Borneo and served under Lt Col Eberhardy. The rank displayed is in correct as he was promoted to L/Cpl of which I have an A4 size photo of him in his sand attaire being given his tape out in Bahrain I think it was. I feel he would have gone on and made CSM had on his way home on Christmas leave on the A406 St.Albans Herts he was knock from his motorcycle and killed. The battalion did him proud with the number that attended his funeral and the kind letters sent to my late parents of which I still have. I my self joined the army a month after he was killed and albeit it was the RASC and then the RCT and did move over to the 63 RTC para for a while until again I had a problem. I served in Turkey, Cyprus with the UN and Bahrain and Norway. It was sad that my brother didn't see it. Thank you and I wish all servicemen well. It was great being a part of it.
