Philip Manning enlisted in 1993 into Support Company, 10th Battalion at Redan Road, Aldershot in January 1993, and passed P Company in December that year.
He was attached to 5 Platoon (Pln), B Company (Coy), 3 PARA in November 1994 and transferred to open engagement in July 1995 and completed a tour of Northern Ireland Tour in 197/98.
Pte Manning served with the Regimental Recruiting Team from October 1998 to September 2000.
Returning to 3 PARA, this time with A Coy, Lance Corporal Manning served again on Operation Banner in Northern Ireland before going to The Falkland Islands as part of Operation Falkland Islands Roulement Infantry Company (Op FIRIC) and then on Operation Telic in Iraq in 2003.
Corporal Manning moved to C Coy after Op TELIC. He returned to Iraq again for Op Telic 5 in 2005.
Posted to Patrols Pln, he then saw active service on Op Herrick 4 and 8.
He returned to Afghanistan on Op Herrick 13 in 2010 with A Coy as their CQMS.
In 2011 he went to Signals Pln, later becoming Regimental Signals Warrant Officer
