Formally know as Karl Everitt and after spending time with 3 Coy, 10 Para I joined 3 Para on an ‘S Type’ engagement in August 1988. The following three years were spent with B Coy and a successful 2 year residential tour of Northern Ireland.
At this stage I decided to go back to Civvy Street in 1991. After 6 months and various jobs I made the initial enquiry of re-enlisting. 2 weeks later I was back at the Depot completing the various fitness tests, the BFT, CFT, 10 miler etc.
I went straight back to the fold of B Coy, 3 Para in 1992 a happier man. I spent time with B Coy before completing the Mortars cadre and the ultimate move to the Support Coy.
After spending time with the Mortar Platoon I moved to HQ Coy and the Medical Centre where I spent nearly 2 years.
In 1995 I put myself forward for the Red Devils team selection. After successfully completing the selection I was posted to the team in Aug 1996. I stayed there until May 2001. During this time another tour of Northern Ireland was completed with 2 Para.
Countries visited during my career were Kenya, Belize, France, Germany, USA, Belgium and Mexico.
