Clifford Thomas Darrell Evans was enlisted into the Royal Artillery (RA) during World War II and served with 300 Independent Anti-Tank Battery (RA). He deployed to Egypt, and took part in the seaborne landings in Sicily and Italy in 1943.
The battery joined 2nd Independent Parachute Brigade in December 1943 and was redesignated as 300 Airlanding Anti-Tank Battery (RA). The brigade was involved in defensive operations at Cassino before deploying to the south of France for Op Dragoon. It was then despatched to Greece towards the end of 1944.
L/Bdr Evans deployed to Palestine in late 1945. He returned to the UK towards the end of 1946, when he was demobilised and transferred to the Army reserve.
