David Sydney Moore of Kent enlisted into the Royal Artillery in July 1957. He volunteered for airborne forces in October 1957.
Gunner Moore undertook Parachute Training Course 464 but due to illness, he was back squadded to Course 465. After qualifying he was posted to 33rd Parachute Light Regiment RA.
Gunner Moore served in Cyprus and Jordan. After leaving 33rd Parachute Light Regiment RA in July 1959 he joined 289th Parachute Light Regiment, Royal Artillery (TA).
The 289th Parachute Light Regiment, Royal Artillery (TA) was renamed as 289 Parachute Regiment, Royal Horse Artillery in 1960. Gunner Moore left 289 Para Regt, RHA in 1962.
