Patrick also known as Thomas Sheridan was born in Dublin, Ireland. He was registered at birth with the name Thomas, yet his baptism certificate is Patrick. He served with The Cameronians before volunteering for the airborne forces.

He successfully passed parachute jump instruction at RAF Ringway on Course 96. This course ran between 16 and 30 December 1943. His instructor noted this about his performance:

"Worked hard quiet type, reached good standards"

Patrick was then posted to The 9th Para Bn and took part on Op. Overlord. He was wounded on 6 June 1944. He joined the Reserves 14 March 1946. It is thought that he later became a member of 1 PARA ITC.

Patrick died in 1996.

Patrick left the army in 1958 and returned home to his wife Margaret in Dublin. Patrick and Margaret went on to have five children. Patrick gained employment in a metal refinery and then CIÉ/Irish rail when he returned to Dublin.

Patrick was widowed in 1968. He worked for CÍE/Irish Rail.
