Arthur R H Kellas was commissioned into The Border Regiment 27 November 1939. He then volunteered for the airborne forces.
He was jump trained in 1940/41 and at first served with 2 SAS HQ Coy. Arthur then saw service with both R and S Coys in The 1st Parachute Bn. He received an MiD (London Gazette 23 September 1943) for services in operations in N.Africa was wounded 16 November 1942
The London Gazette records that he became a Temporary Captain with The AAC on 4 January 1945.
