Reginald F Hicks joined the Army 27 April 1931. He volunteered in the very early days of the formation of the airborne forces. Reginald was probably parachute jump trained in 1940/41 before formal records were kept at RAF Ringway.
He served with 2 SAS, G Trp, before they became The 1st Parachute Bn. Reginald served in N. Africa, Sicily and Italy. On 22 November 1942 he received a 'superficial wound' in his right thigh.
During Op. Market Garden he was Sect Commander of 2 Pln in R Coy. He was captured and held in Stalag 21a and given the POW number 90209.
Reginald joined the Reserves on 15 March 1946
