Fusilier Peter D Ibbetson

Peter Dennis Ibbetson was a clerk before he enlisted into the General Service Corps in Carlisle in May 1945. He soon volunteered for airborne forces in October 1945.

Fusilier Ibbetson completed Parachute Course 184 at RAF Ringway in November 1945. The course report states ‘Ibbertson [sic]: Very good jumper. Confident and reliable’. After a spell with a Holding Battalion, he went on to join 6th (Royal Welch) Parachute Battalion.

Fusilier Ibbetson served in Palestine and was demobilised in 1948.
