Okan P 'Tunchie' Tunch joined the airborne forces in 1989. He passed out at Aldershot Depo Para as a member of 553 Platoon.
He served with from 1989 to 1997 with 2 PARA, B Coy, D Coy and C Coy. He was a member of Gym staff as a PTI and Support Coy, Heavy Machine Gun Coy.
Tunchie did 2 Operational NI tours. In 1992 NI a 5 months tour. Then during 1993 to 1995 he was based at Palace Barracks, Hollywood,NI.
He was posted on various overseas tours and exercises, including: Kenya 1990 in Italy, 1992 in France, USA, Canada, Cyprus, Botswana. Then in 1996 in Turkey as a Nato Posting Liaison officer and interpreter.
He left the Army 12 March 1997.
After his service with Army he went on to spend the next 18 years in the security sector, in close protection work. This included 10 years in IRAQ as PSD.
Tunchie states that he is 'happily divorced' and has 1 child.
