Private John A Coan

{ Ady }

21 Apr 1946 -

John 'Ady' Coan enlisted in ‘D’ Coy. 12/13 Para at Cross Lane, Salford on 13 October 1965.  In 1967 at the formation of 4 Para Joined ‘B’ Coy. Rifle Street, Oldham.

He trained at The Hythe School of Infantry (it was a NCO Course and was made Lance Corporal for the duration of the course). Ady qualified as Company Signaller.

Ady reverted back to the rank of a Private Soldier when he returned to the Company. Ady was the Section Bren Gunner.

He served for 3 years and left 4 Para on 29 October 1968.

 Ady is currently a Karate Instructor.
