Sergeant John M Robinson DCM

John Robinson joined Junior Parachute Company on the 10 September 1968 and passed out to D Coy 2 Para in April 1971.

He then served on Northern Ireland operational tours with D Coy in 1971, 1972 (twice) and 1973 as well as postings to Malaya, Norway, and Turkey before being posted to the Depot (JPC) as a Corporal (Instructor) from January 1974 to January 1976.

On returning to D Coy 2 Para he exchanged with the 82nd Airborne in Fort Bragg and completed a further tour of Northern Ireland over Christmas 1976; he then posted with the battalion to Berlin from April 1977 to June 1979 and Ballykinler. In Ballykinler he was promoted to Sergeant in the Intelligence Section.

When the battalion left in February 1981 he remained posted to 12 Intelligence and Security Coy until he left the army in July 1983.

Sgt John Robinson was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal on 12 April 1983.
