Kenneth George Wright was the son of George and Elsie (Lowe) Wright, of Forest Gate, Essex, he enlisted in the Suffolk Regiment and volunteered for airborne forces.
Private Wright successfully completed parachute training at RAF Ringway on course number 86 from 4 to 19 October 1943. His course report stated, “Excellent performer, completed 5 jumps on an earlier course”. He was posted to 12 Pln, C Coy, 9th Battalion, Parachute Regiment and took part in Operation Overlord (D day landings).
Pte Wright was killed in action on 15 June 1944, aged 21, and is commemorated on the Bayeux Memorial to the missing.
