Alfred George Jacobs was the son of Benjamin Henry and Winifred Jacobs, of Ipswich, Suffolk, he enlisted in the Suffolk Regiment and volunteered for airborne forces.
Craftsman Jacobs successfully completed glider training and was posted to 6th Airborne Divisional Workshops, Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, and took part in Operation Overlord (Normandy Landings).
Cfsmn Jacobs was killed in action on 6 June 1944, aged 22, and is commemorated on the Bayeux Memorial to the missing.
