Walter Brown enlisted and served in the Royal Army Ordnance Corps from April, 1943 until September 1945.
He then volunteered for the airborne forces and was transferred to the 8th Parachute Battalion, 3rd Parachute Brigade. Records indicate he was parachute jump trained at RAF Ringway on Course 160B. This course ran between the 7 and 19 April 1945.
Walter was then posted to Palestine as part of the security forces until September 1947.
