Corporal Robert Lord served with 1st Battalion The Border Regiment and saw service during Operation Market Garden at Arnhem.
Robert served in a mortar team, and upon firing the last round available, then moved into casualty evacuation, assisting at the Regimental Aide Post (RAP). He evacuated between 60 and 70 men, and was wounded when his Jeep was destroyed. He was himself then evacuated back across the Rhine.
He was recommended for a Military Medal but the recommendation was not accepted.
