Driver Victor D Cook

Victor Douglass Cook was the son of Thomas William Kemlow and Amelia Jessie (Usher) Cook, of Shirley, Surrey, he enlisted in the Royal Army Service Corps, and volunteered for airborne forces.

His brother Sgt Donald Cook, No. 1321433, 226 Squadron RAF, was killed in action on 17 August 1944, aged 22.

Driver Cook successfully completed parachute training at RAF Ringway on course number 115, from 8 to 20 May 1944. His course report stated “Jumped Well”. He was posted to 398 (Airborne) Divisional Composite Company, Royal Army Service Corps and took part in Operation Varsity (Rhine Crossing).

Dvr Cook was killed in action on 2 April 1945, aged 20, and was given a field burial at Gemen and was re-interred to Reichswald Forest War Cemetery on 7 May 1947.
