Lieutenant Geoffrey Victor van Klaveren

Son of Wilhelm Gottfried Van Klaveren and of Gladys Joan Van Klaveren (nee Bickmore), of Much Hadham, Hertfordshire; husband of Margery L. Van Klaveren (nee Hart). He was commissioned in The Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) and volunteered for airborne forces.

He was a student at Emmanuel College, Cambridge. He married Margery Lucile de Hart in 1939 and had one son William Robert Cheney van Klaveren.

Lieutenant van Klaveren successfully completed parachute training at RAF Ringway on course number 19, from 20 to 27 July 1942 and also completed glider training and was posted to Pioneer Platoon, 2nd (Airborne) Battalion, Oxford and Bucks Light Infantry, and took part in Operation Overlord (Normandy).

Lt van Klaveren was killed in action on 13 June 1944, aged 29, and was given a field burial at Le Mesnil, and was re-interred to Ranville War Cemetery, Calvados, France, on 26 June 1945.
