Reginald Lascelles Spark was the son of Arnold Bardgett and Alice Spark, of Alston, Cumberland, he enlisted in the Royal Army Service Corps and volunteered for airborne forces.
Lance Corporal Spark may have successfully completed parachute training at RAF Ringway. However exact details of jump training are unknown. He was then posted to 716 (Airborne) Light Composite Company, Royal Army Service Corps, and took part in Operation Overlord (Normandy).
L/Cpl Spark was killed in action on 22 June 1944, aged 21, and was buried in Ranville War Cemetery, Calvados, France.
