Arthur J Hose was a Cinema Operator & Driver before he enlisted with The Queen's Own Royal West Kent Regiment in 1937

With this Regiment he served in Palestine, Malta, twice in the Middle East and on Samos Island. He was awarded the Military Medal in connection with Leros, "for services before being taken prisoner of war" in 1943.

On 6 July 1944 Arthur volunteered for AAC. He qualified as a parachutist on PTS course 126 at RAF Ringway. His instructor noted "Cheerful, confident performer - worked hard" He then joined 13 (Lancashire) Parachute Battalion.

On 24 December 1944 he was in The British Liberation Army of North West Europe. He also then went on to serve in India, South East Asia Command, Batavia and Singapore before leaving the Army 10 February 1947.
