James Joseph Victor Reilly was the son of John and May Reilly; husband of Sylvia Reilly, of Belfast, Northern Ireland, he enlisted in the Royal Ulster Rifles, and volunteered for airborne forces.
Rifleman Reilly successfully completed glider training and was posted to 1st (Airborne) Battalion, Royal Ulster Rifles, and took part in operation Overlord (Normandy).
Rfn Reilly was killed in action on 7 June 1944, age 27, and was buried in Ranville War Cemetery, Calvados, France.
