Axel Peter Pearson was the son of Eric and Agneta Pearson, of Kelliher, Saskatchewan, Canada. He was a Carpenter by trade and was 5’ 10”, 153 lbs, medium complexion, Blue eyes, Brown hair and with 20/20 vision. He enlisted on 26 August 1942 at Shilo camp, and transferred to 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion on 14 November 1942, and arrived in the UK on 28 July 1943. He qualified as a parachutist on 16 December 1943 and took part in Operation Overlord (Normandy).
Sgt Pearson and the 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion jumped into France on 5/6 June 1944. He was killed in action on 18 August 1944, aged 27, and was buried in Ranville War Cemetery, Calvados, France.
