Cyril Edward Earl was the son of Leo and Maud Edith Earl, of Edmonton, Middlesex; husband of Irene Emily Earl, of Edmonton, he enlisted in the Dorsetshire Regiment, and volunteered for Airborne forces.
Lance Sergeant Earl successfully completed glider training and was posted to 2nd (Airborne) Battalion, Oxford and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry, and took part in Operation Overlord (Normandy).
L/Sgt Earl was killed in action on 2 July 1944, aged 27, and was buried in Ranville War Cemetery, Calvados, France.
