Stewart Milton joined the Parachute Regiment in 1982. Following completion of P company and his BPC he was assigned to the Mortar Platoon of 15 Para (SV) and was based in Pearson Hall at Yorkhill Street Glasgow until 1985.
During this time he also served as an instructor on recruit training wing. In 1985 he moved to Meechan Hall, Troon with D Company, Fire Support.
In Troon he again was assigned to Training wing as an instructor for recruit training and selection. His time in Troon was split between training wing and the Mortar platoon.
He completed his MFC/CPO course at Netheravon in 1985 and gained his USA basic parachutist wings twice in 1984 and 1987 in Vicenza, Italy with the 82nd Airborne Division.
He completed Senior Brecon in 1988 and was also the Battalion’s helicopter abseil instructor having completed his instructors course at JATE, Brize Norton in 1988 too.
He resigned from the Battalion in 1991 to complete his MBA and to later take up a post abroad in Riyadh where he worked for the Saudi Ministry of Defence and Aviation until May 2000.
Stewart is married and has a son and daughter. He still trains 3-4 times per week in the gym and runs the Facebook page for 15 Para. He is currently teaching at a University.
