Reginald Arthur Claridge was the son of Amos and Amelia Claridge, of Thatcham, Berkshire. He enlisted in the Royal Berkshire Regiment and volunteered for airborne forces.
Private Claridge successfully completed glider training and was posted to 2nd (Airborne) Battalion, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry, and took part in Operation Overlord (Normandy).
Pte Claridge was killed in action on 10 August 1944, aged 29, and was buried at Ranville War Cemetery, Calvados, France.
