Anthony David Bass was born, and lived, in north west London. He enlisted in the Royal Army Medical Corps and volunteered for airborne forces.
Private Bass successfully completed his parachute training and was posted to 224 Parachute Field Ambulance, Royal Army Medical Corps, and took part in Operation Overlord (Normandy).
Pte Bass was killed in action on 18 August 1944, and was buried in Ranville War Cemetery, Calvados, France.
