Eric James Robertson was born in Gloucestershire and lived in Coventry. He enlisted in the Gloucestershire Regiment and volunteered for airborne forces.
Private Robertson successfully completed his glider training and was posted to D Company, 7th (Airborne) Battalion, King’s Own Scottish Borderers, and took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).
Pte Robertson was killed in action between 18 and 25 September 1944, and was given a field burial near Ginkel Heath, Oosterbeek. He was re-interred to Arnhem Oosterbeek War Cemetery on 7 September 1945.
