Driver Reginald Shore

Reginald Shore was the son of Samuel and Elizabeth Shore, of Stoke-on-Trent. He enlisted into The Royal Army Service Corps and volunteered for airborne forces.

Driver Shore was posted to 253 (Airborne) Composite Company, RASC, and took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).

Dvr Shore was killed, along with the eight other crew members, when Stirling EF-298 of 570 Squadron RAF, based at Harwell, was shot down by Flak and crashed in woods east of Panoramahoeve on 23 September 1944, aged 21. He was buried near the aircraft and was commemorated on the Groesbeek Memorial up to December 1987, when his grave was positively identified. He was re-interred to Arnhem Oosterbeek War Cemetery on 30 November 1945.
