Captain Charles McCorry

Charles McCorry was the son of Charles and Monica McCorry, of Larkhall, Lanarkshire. He was commissioned into the Royal Artillery and volunteered for airborne forces.

Captain McCorry was attached to 658 Air Observation Post Squadron, RAF, and took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).

Capt McCorry was the pilot of Auster MT-281, base Eindhoven, and was killed in action, aged 26, when the aircraft crashed at Mariaheide, Veghel. The crew were originally buried in a meadow opposite the house of Mr G Van Boxmeer at Uden and re-interred to Uden War Cemetery on 14 September 1945. (Roll of Honour, 5th Revised Edition, 2011).
