Henry William Thomson was the son of Henry and Margot Thomson. He enlisted in the Royal Army Service Corps, and volunteered for airborne forces.
Driver Thomson successfully completed Air Despatcher training and was posted to 223 Air Despatch Company, Royal Army Service Corps, and took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).
Dvr Thomson died of injuries sustained on 18 September 1944, aged 22, when Dakota KG-428, piloted by P/O Christie, was hit by Flak over the supply dropping point (Warnsborn) and crash landed in Park De Hoge Veluwe. He was the only fatality, has no known grave, and is commemorated on the Groesbeek Memorial to the missing.
