John William Holloway was born and lived in Birmingham. He enlisted in the South Staffordshire Regiment and volunteered for airborne forces.
Private Holloway successfully completed his glider training, and was posted to A Company, 2nd (Airborne) Battalion, South Staffordshire Regiment and took part in operation Market Garden (Arnhem).
Pte Holloway died of wounds on 24 September 1944, aged 25, and was first buried in Lingen New Cemetery, Germany and was re-interred to Rheinberg War Cemetery on 12 August 1947.
