Harry Fendick was the son of Edward and Susan Fendick, of New Cross, London. He enlisted in the Royal Artillery and volunteered for airborne forces.
Staff Sergeant Fendick successfully completed glider pilot training and was posted to G Squadron, 10 flight, The Glider Pilot Regiment, and took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).
S/Sgt Fendick died on 4 October 1944, ‘Due to War Operations’ in the Derbyshire Royal Infirmary, Derby. He was buried in the Deptford (Grove Park) Cemetery, Lewisham (London).
