Dennis Frederick Pidduck was the son of William and Sarah Pidduck and the husband of Sylvia Pidduck. He enlisted in the General Service Corps and volunteered for airborne forces.
Sergeant Pidduck successfully completed parachute training at RAF Ringway and also Glider Pilot training and was posted to E Squadron, The Glider Pilot Regiment, and took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem), first lift, chalk number 267.
Sgt Pidduck probably drowned in the river Rhine during the withdrawal on the night of 25/26 September 1944, aged 20. He is buried at Rhenen (Elst) General Cemetery, Utrecht, Netherlands.
