Henry Thomas Tustin was the son of Henry Richard and Hannah Tustin, of Quinton, Birmingham. He enlisted in The South Staffordshire Regiment and volunteered for Airborne forces.
Gunner Tustin successfully completed glider training and was posted to 1 Airlanding Light Regiment, Royal Artillery, and took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).
Gnr Tustin was killed in action on 17 September 1944, aged 20. He died together with Frederick Brown, Robert Hempton, Eric Stubbs and glider pilots, Laurence Cook and Roy Rowland, when their glider crashed in the Elisabeth Polder behind the barn on Mr Reijnders farm, Oude Heijningsedijk, Fijnaart. They were all initially buried in the Community Cemetery at Dinteloord and re-interred to Bergen-Op-Zoom War Cemetery on 27 May 1946.
