Gunner Edward W Peck

Edward William Peck was the son of Herbert and Elizabeth Peck and the husband of Hilda Peck, of Bedford. He enlisted in the Royal Artillery and volunteered for Airborne forces.

Gunner Peck successfully completed glider training and was posted to F Troop, 2 Airlanding Anti-Tank Battery, Royal Artillery, and took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).

Gnr Peck died of his wounds on 1 October 1944, aged 29, in the Jonkerbosch Boarding School (in use as a hospital at the time) at Nijmegen, and was buried in Jonkerbosch Old Cemetery (Roll of Honour, 5th revised edition, 2011). He was re-interred to Jonkerbus War Cemetery on 25 March 1947.
