Jesse Charles Woodhouse was the son of Frederick and Nellie Woodhouse, of Ashford, Middlesex. He enlisted into the Northamptonshire Regiment and volunteered for airborne forces.
Private Woodhouse successfully completed glider training and was posted to B Company, 2nd (Airborne) Battalion, South Staffordshire Regiment, and took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).
Pte Woodhouse was killed in action on 19 September 1944, aged 22, and was given a field burial in an isolated group of graves on the Hemelse Berg Estate, Oosterbeek, and was re-interred to Arnhem Oosterbeek War Cemetery on 28 August 1945.
