Christopher Frederick Sutton (Dinky) was born in 1924 Birmingham, as the 5th child of Thomas and Mary Sutton. He married Ethel Blanche Trehearne and had two children, Alan and Christine.
He volunteered for airborne forces, while serving with The Dorset Regiment during World War II, and was sent to Hardwick Hall for preliminary training before attendance at RAF Ringway for parachute training on course 100, which ran from 24 January to 5 February 1944. After qualifying he was posted to No 1 Airborne Forces Holding Unit and later transferred to 7th (Light Infantry) Parachute Battalion.
Christopher deployed with the 7th Para Bn as part of the spearhead for the Normandy landings on the night of 5/6th June 1944 and was killed as the battalion fought off German counter attacks in Le Port and Benouville area.
Pte Christopher Sutton died on 6 June 1944, aged 21 years, and is now buried in Ranville War Cemetery, Calvados.
