Lance Corporal Thomas Ronald Thresher volunteered for airborne forces in World War II and qualified as a military parachutist on Course 77, which ran at RAF Ringway from 9 to 18 August 1943. The instructors' notes record that he "jumped well" on the course.
He subsequently served with No 2 Platoon A Company 13th Parachute Battalion in the Normandy campaign.
Thomas Thresher sadly died of a heart attack in Somerset on 8 June 1964 aged 47 years.
