Corporal William G Wilson

William George Wilson was the son of Una Violet Williamson, of Dover, he enlisted in the King’s Royal Rifle Corps and volunteered for airborne forces.

Corporal Wilson successfully completed parachute training at RAF Ringway on course number 97 from 3 to 15 January 1944. His course report stated “Reliable and hard working, good parachutist”. He was posted to 7th Battalion, the Parachute Regiment and took part in Operation Overlord (Normandy).

Cpl Wilson was killed in action on 20 August 1944, aged 24, and was buried in Ranville War Cemetery, Calvados, France.
