Patrick Gubbin served with the 4th Parachute Battalion, which amalgamated with the 6th Battalion while he was serving to form the 4th/6th Parachute Battalion, until May 1948.
His served overseas with the Battalion in Palestine as part of the 6th Airborne Division.
