Clarry Jackson served with the 4th Airlanding Anti-Tank Battery, Royal Artillery and took part in the Normandy landings.
The main party of gliders carrying the unit's men and equipment took off from Tarrant Rushton and landed in the Ranville area around 03.30 hours on the morning of 6 June 1944. Clarry was wounded on 9 June around the time that the Battery HQ area was subject to intense shelling and medically evacuated back to the UK.
Clarry Jackson died in December 1978, aged 71 years.
