Corporal John Lysaght served with Airborne Forces with 13th (South Lancs) Parachute Battalion in the Second World War, and died in the Normandy campaign.
John Joseph Lysaght, son of Joseph and Annie Lysaght, of Low Hill, Wolverhampton, initially served with a Heavy Anti-Aircraft unit of the Royal Artillery before volunteering for Airborne Forces.
John completed Parachute Course 87 at RAF Ringway in late October 1943. He was subsequently posted with 13th (South Lancs) Parachute Battalion, and took part in the Normandy campaign, during Op Overlord.
Corporal Lysaght died on 18 July 1944, aged 23 years old. He is now buried at Ranville War Cemetery, Normandy.
