Pegasus Company sets and maintains the highest possible standards of physical and mental prowess and works to the following mission statement:
“To test physical fitness, determination and mental robustness, under conditions of stress to determine whether an individual has the self discipline and motivation to serve within Airborne Forces.”
As part of the selection process all candidates must complete the following 8 tests within a strict criteria over a 5 day period:
a. 10 Mile Loaded March : Completed in 1 hr 50 min carrying a 37lbs bergan plus individual weapon system.
b. Trainasium: A 60 ft aerial assault course.
c. Log Race: 2 mile race carrying a 50kg log between 8 people.
d. Steeple Chase: 2 mile cross country water trap assault course.
e. 2 Mile Loaded March: 2 mile speed march completed in under 18 min carrying a 37lbs bergan plus individual weapon system.
f. Milling: 1 min of hand to hand combat against an opponent of equal height and build.
g. Endurance March:20 mile endurance march completed in 4 hrs 10 min carrying a 37lbs bergan plus individual weapon system.
h. Stretcher Race: 5 mile race carrying a 75kg metal stretcher between 16 people.
On 11 June 14 all permanent members of staff from Pegasus Company will attempt to complete the above tests to the same standard as the candidates within a 24 hour period. It should be emphasised that this feat of endurance has never been successfully completed. All monies raised by this endurance event will be donated to the Parachute Regiment CHarity and Afghanistan Trust.
