Private John Henry Powell served with Airborne Forces as part of 13th (South Lancs) Parachute Battalion in the Second World War.
John Henry Powell was born in 1918, the son of John and Amy Powell. He married Winifred Grace Powell, of Cheslyn Hay, Staffordshire.
John initially joined the Army to serve with the South Staffordshire Regiment before joining Airborne Forces in 1943. He completed Parachute Course 87 at RAF Ringway in late October 1943, and was posted to 13th Parachute Battalion.
Private Powell died in the UK on 15 February 1945, aged 26 years old. He is now buried at Cheslyn Hay Cemetery, Staffordshire.
