Peter Watson Jones was the son of Daniel Parry and Catherine Jones and the husband of Jean Jones, of Patna. He enlisted into the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders and volunteered for airborne forces.
Lance Corporal Jones successfully completed his parachute training on course number 109 at RAF Ringway from 27 March to 7 April 1944. His course report stated “Keen worker, good performer, confident.” He was posted to 1st (Airborne) Divisional Provost Company, Corps of Military Police, and took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).
L/Cpl Jones was killed in action on 26/27 September 1944, aged 24, and was given a field burial near the junction of Van Borsselenweg and Utrechtseweg, Oosterbeek. He was re-interred to Arnhem Oosterbeek War Cemetery on 2 September 1945.
