George Evan Jones, son of John and Mrs Jones and husband of Winifred Jones, of Hanwell, Middlesex, enlisted into the Royal Army Service Corps and volunteered for airborne forces.
Driver Jones successfully completed Glider training and was posted to 253 (Airborne) Composite Company, Royal Army Service Corps. He took part in the Battle of Arnhem, Operation Market Garden.
Dvr Jones was killed in action on 22 September 1944, aged 28, and was buried in Jonkerbos War Cemetery.
