Lance Sergeant Frank R Seabury

Frank Raymond Seabury, son of Mary Seabury and husband of Cecilia Seabury, of Rochdale, Lancashire, enlisted in The Border Regiment and volunteered for airborne forces.

Lance Sergeant Seabury successfully completed Glider training and was posted to 1st (Airborne) Battalion, The Border Regiment. 

L/Sgt Seabury took part in Operation Doomsday. He was aboard Short Stirling LK 147 en route to Gardermoen airfield when it crashed in thick fog 1500 meters south of the western runway at Gardermoen on 10 May 1945. All the 20 men on board perished, L/Sgt Seabury was aged 29. They were originally buried at Gardermeon and on 21 December 1945 they were re-interred at Oslo Western Civil Cemetery.
